China's first 100-kilowatt ultra-high-power laser officially launched

On December 10, China's first 100-kilowatt ultra-high-power laser was officially opened in Hengyang, Hunan. The laser is jointly developed by the University of South China and Raycus Laser and other units. It is the industrial fiber laser with the highest power in China and the second highest power industrial laser in the world.

The laser uses a high-power single-mode fiber laser as a unit module, optimizes the structure and layout design of the whole machine, develops a complete system integration and modular assembly technology, adopts self-made high-power industrial-grade laser beam combiners and transmission components, and combines power, Temperature and other multi-parameter real-time monitoring technology, developed a multi-mode 100-kilowatt fiber laser.

Han Lianghua, director of the Joint Laboratory of Laser Applications between the University of South China and Raycus, introduced that during the development of the laser, South China University provided a scalable modular design scheme, participated in the design of the ultra-high-power beam combiner, and developed ultra-high-power beam combiners. The laser output head solves the "stuck neck" technology developed by many lasers and breaks the monopoly of foreign countries.

Compared with traditional lasers, 100-kilowatt ultra-high-power lasers have a more compact structure, can be used at any time, and have higher electrical and optical conversion efficiency, lower energy consumption and better beam quality. Based on its flexible laser output mode, it can be easily integrated with system equipment.

Han Lianghua said that the laser is known as the "fastest knife" and can be widely used in welding, cutting, surface decontamination and other scenarios. High-end applications such as surface decontamination of contaminated components and glass curing of high-level waste liquids.
