How to distinguish the quality of laser protective lenses?

1、 Surface quality

The surface quality of laser protective lenses has a significant impact on their protection effect and service life. A good laser protective lens should have a smooth and flat surface, without defects such as bubbles, cracks, and scratches. During the inspection, it is possible to observe with the naked eye or use a magnifying glass, while also observing the reflected light on the surface. The background should be clear and not blurry.

2、 Transmittance

The transmittance of laser protective lenses is their ability to penetrate laser light, so the magnitude of their transmittance directly affects the effectiveness of laser protection. A good laser protective lens should have high transmittance, which can be tested using a spectral analyzer. When testing, appropriate laser wavelengths should be selected to avoid deviations in the test results.

3、 Reflective performance

The reflection performance of laser protective lenses is also one of the important indicators to judge their quality. A good laser protective lens should have good reflection performance, which can effectively reflect laser light and reduce its harm to people and equipment. The reflectivity tester can be used to test the reflection performance of laser protective lenses. The testing method is relatively simple, but it is necessary to pay attention to the selection of parameters such as wavelength, angle, and power during testing.

Laser protective lenses are vulnerable components that protect the environment inside the laser head cavity from external dust pollution. They are commonly used in laser cutting, welding, marking, cleaning, 3D printing, photovoltaic cells, lithium-ion new energy, and other fields. There are several to several thousand yuan of protective lenses available on the market, and how to choose fiber laser protective lenses is a basic knowledge that many novice buyers need to supplement.

To select a laser protective film, the following indicators should be confirmed:

① Diameter thickness: The outer diameter and thickness of the protective film. This indicator is the overall size and the most basic confirmation value. Whether it can be installed properly should be accurate to 0.1mm.

② Application power: rather than the power of the laser, it is the actual application power, which generally needs to be confirmed with the customer (the laser power is 6kw, while the actual operating power is 4kw, which is the application power).

③ Band range: Generally refers to the band range of the laser, and it should also be considered whether it is multi band.

④ Material requirements: K9 and quartz are commonly used for optical fiber, ultraviolet, and green light. CO2 laser generally uses ZnSe zinc selenide.

⑤ Smoothness, transmittance, damage threshold, etc.

During the installation and cleaning process of the lens, any adhesive or even oil droplets on the nail can increase the absorption rate of the lens and reduce its service life. The following preventive measures must be taken:

1. Never install lenses with bare fingers. Fingertips or rubber gloves should be worn.

2. Do not use sharp instruments to avoid scratching the surface of the lens.

3. When removing the lens, do not touch the film layer, but hold the edge of the lens.

4. Lenses should be placed in a dry and tidy place for testing and cleaning. A good workbench surface should have several layers of cleaning tissue and several sheets of cleaning lens cotton paper.

5. Users should avoid talking above the lenses and keep food, beverages, and other potential pollutants away from the work environment.
