Precautions for the use of nozzles in laser cutting machines

In the cutting process of laser cutting machine, the main factors affecting the cutting quality performance include laser beam quality, laser power, cutting speed, workpiece thickness, material type, etc. In addition, the cutting head nozzle is also an important factor.

The nozzle is usually installed at the front end of the laser cutting head, which first helps to control the assist gas and protect the focusing lens. The following are the precautions when using the nozzle:

During the cutting process, the workpiece is kept at a stable distance from the nozzle to prevent splashes from bouncing back during the cutting process. The diameter of the nozzle determines the shape of the gas flow entering the slit, the gas diffusion area and the gas flow rate, which affects melt removal and cutting stability. The gas flow into the slit is large and the speed is fast, the position of the workpiece in the gas flow is suitable, and the ability to spray the melt is stronger. Therefore, the larger the nozzle aperture selected, the worse the protection of the focusing mirror, because the life of the mirror is shorter when the spark of the melt splashes during cutting.

When the nozzle is deformed or the nozzle is melted, it has the same effect on the cutting quality as above. Therefore, the nozzle should be placed carefully and should not be damaged to avoid deformation; the melted stains on the nozzle should be cleaned up in time. Nozzles should be precise when manufactured and need to be installed correctly. If the conditions are changed during the cutting process due to poor nozzle quality, the nozzle should be replaced in time.
