In the research and development process of STR-HW series handheld laser welding machines, the integrated design concept has always been emphasized by the company. The STR-HW welding gun also continues the same research and development philosophy, making bold breakthroughs and upgrades.


For traditional conventional laser welding guns, the additional weight, energy transmission loss and other hidden failure risks caused by inserting the QCS/QBH output head of the laser generator into the welding gun interface are unavoidable problems. The integrated integration of the STR-HW welding gun eliminates the QCS/QBH head from the design, and is fully enclosed without interfaces. The excitation light path directly enters the welding gun, not only improving laser transmission efficiency but also effectively reducing the probability of failure.


Perhaps everyone may question that eliminating the integrated welding gun for QCS/QBH laser output heads would result in the loss of one accessory? Why does the effect not diminish, but instead improve? What technological means were used to achieve this?

Looking at the schematic diagram of the optical path of a traditional welding gun, it can be found that laser energy is transmitted through the internal optical path of the welding gun. After being input through the QCS/QBH head, it also needs to pass through a collimating lens to convert the scattered light into collimated light. Considering the passing rate of the laser lens, coupled with some scattered laser, it will inevitably cause additional loss of laser energy; And after collimating the lens, there will be scattered laser hitting the shell. If it is made of traditional metal materials, it will inevitably result in a long operation time and the gun body will heat up.

We have boldly reformed the traditional laser transmission method by directly using the beam collimation module input, minimizing the refraction, scattering, and other losses of laser energy transmission between lenses, truly realizing the concept of an integrated welding gun. This welding gun design assists the host in bringing better laser energy output performance, allowing the welding machine to achieve deeper welding penetration under the same power conditions, greatly improving welding efficiency.

In the eyes of many people, it is just a simple connecting wire, and no one can see it wrapped together.


But when the welding gun becomes an integral part, the armored cable naturally serves it and must also become an integral part in order to minimize transmission losses and form a closed loop. Under the careful consideration of the R&D business unit, a small wire is cleverly and reasonably integrated into a armored cable with a diameter of only 17mm (plus a protective cloth sleeve size of 18.6mm) by combining four different connected wire groups between various components in traditional welding guns. This greatly increases the flexibility of welding guns in welding operations.

During the product development period, the team consulted and researched 156 different handheld tools both domestically and internationally. After determining the approximate shape, various cone-shaped design gun bodies were physically printed using the company's additive manufacturing equipment (3D printing). After extensive comparative experiments and customer experience feedback, the final version of the welding gun design was finalized. The overall shape conforms to ergonomic design, with a welding gun head with a 120 ° angle and a wire feed head with a 50 °~60 ° angle, providing a better grip experience and making welding operations easier.

In the conventional laser welding work, the spatter caused by laser welding will seriously affect the surface quality of the weld, make many metal particles appear on the surface of the material or workpiece, and also increase the probability of pollution and damage to the protective lens. The STR-HW welding gun has a special nozzle closure design, which can instantly accelerate the airflow and effectively suppress welding spatter.

There is better welding effect and longer welding time, and the material of the welding gun must bear the load of all functions. The R&D team began to continuously try many different welding gun shell materials to match the maximum presentation of multiple core technologies.


Metal materials dissipate heat quickly, but when used in high temperature environments in summer, they can absorb the ambient temperature and become hot;


Although conventional plastic materials do not conduct heat, the shell is fragile and slippery, making it difficult to grip;


After multiple attempts and comparison with experimental data results, and from multiple dimensions of strength and performance, the STR-HW welding gun ultimately chose PC material as the main material for the gun body. The welding gun handle is paired with industrial soft glue to enhance grip comfort, allowing the welding gun to have advantages such as lightweight, long-lasting use without fatigue, and not getting hot. This assists in the final landing of core technology, making the STR-HW series products stand out from similar products on the market.


The intuitive feeling brought by these five innovative upgrades is that the volume and weight of the welding gun are greatly reduced compared to traditional welding guns, with a full gun size of only 230mm × 270mm, net weight<600g, more lightweight and convenient.

From the five major innovations above, everyone can definitely feel our repeated deliberation and meticulous refinement in the product. Therefore, in order to ensure the overall service life and low failure rate of the welding machine, and reduce faults and problems caused by human error, its internal space has also been accurately calculated and measured.


Due to the use of a beam collimation module input and its ability to withstand high power, high-quality laser beams, high-temperature environments, and long-term welding, sufficient redundancy is required inside the welding gun. After years of use, customers will soon realize that the STR-HW welding gun has a very high error tolerance rate, does not generate heat, has low faults, and is not easily affected by misoperation, burning of welding gun components, and long-term extreme work, Accidents such as burning down the overall optical path occur.
