TRUMPF launches new generation of fiber lasers for demanding industrial welding and cutting applications

On April 27th, TRUMPF, a high-tech company, launched a new fiber laser TruFiber P series and S series at the Munich Optical Fair, ushering in a new era of laser technology. "The new generation of fiber lasers is of strategic importance for our customers. With their remarkable versatility, fiber lasers will definitely have a decisive impact on our customers' processing needs and our own product portfolio in the coming years." TRUMPF said Dr. Thomas Fehn, Chief Sales Officer and Head of Services and Sales for the Global Laser Business. These new fiber lasers are truly versatile tools for welding and cutting thick, thin and especially difficult-to-cut materials. With a power output of up to 6 kW and a complex range of optics, sensors and software, they are suitable for a wide range of industries. Particularly impressive is the very stable power output of the TruFiber laser, which is maintained even when the laser is operating for extended periods of time.

TruFiber S-Series - a true multi-tool

TruFiber S combines a powerful beam source with advanced features such as adjustable ring core welding technology (also known as BrighLine Weld), which helps improve process quality and productivity. The core of the ring-core tunable technology is a 2-in-1 laser fiber optic cable (LLK), which features TRUMPF's patented inner-core and ring-core fiber design structure, which enables the distribution of laser power between the inner core and the ring-core. The TruFiber S-Series is available in single- and dual-optical options, the latter allowing the laser to be used in two systems for dual use in one machine. Plug-and-play support for fiber optic cables is also a highlight of the series, making the TruFiber S an excellent choice for large production lines such as in the automotive industry.

TruFiber P - the economical alternative

TruFiber P-Series lasers have one output and offer the VariMode option. With VariMode, the beam characteristics of the laser can be adapted to different manufacturing requirements. Therefore, the laser can process thin plates such as steel and aluminum at high speed, as well as copper, brass and other highly reflective materials. VariMode can quickly change the beam profile to achieve the best surface quality when drilling and cutting thick sheet metal from mild steel. VariMode allows users to cut and drill faster, save on downstream operations, and improve workmanship in cutting and welding applications while reducing operating costs.

long-term reliable service

The TruFiber S and TruFiber P series fiber lasers also feature closed-loop power control to maintain stable high-power output for long periods of time. Its built-in power sensor compares the preset value on the laser with the actual reading at microsecond intervals. In the case of discrepancies, the power is automatically adjusted. This keeps the power output of the laser constant, day after day, for many years. A powerful processing head and programmable galvanometer (PFO) facilitate remote welding and drilling. VisionLine image processing ensures accuracy when welding. It can automatically locate the target position on the workpiece. CalibrationLine Focus checks and corrects the focus position on the workpiece. CalibrationLine Power performs the same check on laser power. This inspection and correction procedure is performed at user-defined intervals for better traceability

Intelligent process monitoring

Smart View Services is a real-time monitoring tool with clearly arranged dashboards and intuitive displays that allow customers to monitor critical data from their lasers wherever they are. It can also send this data to TRUMPF, allowing laser experts to continuously check and verify the validity of parameters, and use machine learning to determine if maintenance is required. This remote monitoring can help users improve equipment availability and energy efficiency.

Via one interface, all data of lasers, processing heads and smart modules can be automatically loaded into the enterprise database, which greatly facilitates the user to archive and trace all process-relevant parameters. This function is often used for quality assurance in the machining process.
